Take names of first year class.  Clean up.  Sort.  Pivot table.  Look up on census web site.  Writeup simple hypothesis.  Print out formatted page?
Skills
Download spreadsheet.  Save to personal file server.  Open with Excel (not through Internet Explorer).  Adjust column size.  Sort data by column.  Copy paste column (values).  Drag autofill. 

Lab II: McPherson, Smith-Lovin, & Brashears in the Media

Use library databases to find journalistic articles about social isolation article.  Also NYT and NPR.  Look up ASA citation formats and assemble bibliography.  Read two accounts and answer question 3 on page 19.  Contribute to class data set about coverage of this article.  Decide on how to record if our goal is to characterize diffusion of the story and who gets what right and what spins appear where.
